Day 02: Your Favorite Character
My favorite character has always been (and more likely always will be) Miss Katherine Ann Pryde. You might know her better as Shadowcat.
Kitty started out as the adorable, little sister figure to the X-Men after her recruitment and saving some of the older X-Men as they had been captured by Emma Frost’s Hellfire Club.
This girl has been possessed by a demon that gave her awesome martial art skills. The catch? It made her want to kill Logan (Wolverine), who was her mentor and almost father-like figure.
She was also stuck in a phased state for about three years in comic book continuity after trying to save Rogue from the Morlock Massacre. She was hit with an energy spear when phased, which messed her molecules all around. At one point, she almost deteriorated, but Moira MacTaggart was able to save her, just not bring her back.
With everything she’s been through, she’s still this awesome, humble girl (who has the tendency to sass Emma Frost).
And a bit of trivia for you: Kitty Pryde was one of Joss Whedon’s favorite comic characters. If you can’t tell, check out his run of Astonishing X-Men. But he based Buffy Summers off of Kitty. Awesome, right?
